"In the USA alone, people use over 500 million plastic straws every single day.
That amount is enough to rotate around the earth 2.5 times. Small things like a plastic straw might not seen like a big problem, but when the numbers are this drastic, it becomes a huge hazard for the environment.
Plastic straws are the 11th most found ocean trash. Millions of seabirds, fishes and seaturtles are killed intaking floating plastic materials.
A recent study in California revealed that a quarter of the fishes in the markets contained plastic in their guts.
Fishes ingest 12,000 - 24,000 tons of plastic, which is not only bad for marine life, but also bad for the humans who are intaking it.
It is estimated that 90% of all seabirds have eaten pieces of plastic and the number is predicted to increase to 99% by 2050"
